The catalog contains the list of registered earthquakes that have occurred in Chile from 1902 to January 2017. It was compiled by Alan Poulos and Natalia Zamora using data from the USGS, ISC, etc. Natalia Zamora further helped to correct the information on specific earthquakes.
The catalog is complete only since 1970. Prior to that date, only stronger earthquakes were recorded (magnitude Mw 6.8 and up). The magnitudes were homogenized to Mw to make the earthquakes compatible in the estimation of the Gutemberg-Richter relations, which relate earthquake magnitude to periodicity.
